Last Friday, North Summit High School celebrated their Junior Prom. Their prom is a unique experience! Back in my day, Junior Prom involved picking up your date, going to dinner and then going to a dance. That's not how it goes now.
At North Summit, prom starts in the morning with breakfast. There's usually a mid-day event like going to a fun center for miniature golf, laser-tag, bowling, etc which often includes another meal. Then there's usually a break to get ready for the big event that evening.
This Junior Prom is unlike any I'd ever experienced! First, every junior gathers for a large group picture. It's really cool to get an image of everyone dressed in their finest.

After the picture, the juniors line up in a specific order with their dates to be announced at the beginning of the promenade. To be sure that all parents/relatives can get a good picture, the juniors walk to four different points in the gym.
Each couple received a picture at the beginning of their promenade as they entered the event under a massive and awesome balloon arch. Here are a few images:
After the promenade, the juniors then assemble for a pre-practiced dance routine. They have actually spent a lot of time learning this dance. It was spectacular. This year, the theme was Las Vegas and so the dance was set to a couple of Elvis's favorite songs. The choreography was awesome and really showcase the fun vibe of this year's junior class. Here are a few pictures of that:
After this amazing, the juniors walk into the crowd and pull out someone who is important to them. The first dance was for them. It was a beautiful site.
Finally, the actual dance begins! This group knows how to party - the girls did most of the dancing...
The big hit of the night was the CASINO games. It looked like there were various card games that you'd find in a Las Vegas casino.
It seemed like it was a BLAST for the juniors and their dates. The faculty at North Summit deserves a lot of praise as they seemed to be as into this special night as the students. As illustrated by this picture:

Also, well done to the prom committee! They did an amazing job. The gym was transformed into a ballroom-casino! Everything went off without a hitch. Well done!
